Those are looking really nice! Its been hard to find ones with good feathering like that in this area. Do you ever sell hatching eggs?

I have not so far this spring but for the few you see like this one.
The next generation may not have the feathering..but if interested I surely could sell you some eggs !
Going to do worming my entire flock tomorrow getting ready for spring lay..so about the end of February, PM me for eggs.
I will not have an auction for these until next year and I know for sure the eggs are still large and dark and they breed true.

Oops. So sorry. I've posted them in BSA. Forgive me, I'm sort of out of it - laid up with flu and pneumonia.

Thanks, yes we were hit with an ice storm, loss of power which also zapped our main work p.c., frozen water lines off an on for weeks and our old home dropped to below freezing (inside) with no electricity to heat it. So I was already feeling poorly and being out in all of this, hauling water to animals, certainly didn't help. But hey.....I've been able to catch up on BYC.

Morning Everyone!!!!!!!

I haven't been posting much lately, been pretty busy, miss chatting with everyone. Finally going to get a couple egg orders over here in the West filled while we all wait for the weather to calm down in the East. Seems like the girls are trying to get things figured out and are laying pretty good. Got 2 of Bill's daugthers that are done with their molt and have started back to laying as well.

Pinkchick, how did things end up on that last hatch?

At what age will I be safe to put those last chicks I got from you in a pen with no additional heat source?
I picked up 2 more of those pink sacks of feed yesterday. You will be able to wallpaper your house with them, you will have so many!

How does the protien percentage in fish compare to the protien in june bugs and grasshoppers? We get lots of those in the summer.

Too bad chickens are such sleepyheads at night. I think it would be kind of fun to put a light in their run at night and let them eat all the bugs that come in. It might even cut down on the feed bill.

Hi Mel,

I've watched my hens chase down movin frogs and eat them totally in a min or less.....nice protein!

They love frogs.....I've never seen a frog disappear that fast. Froggy all gone, bye bye. They literally go nutz over frogs and tear thems to pieces fighting over who is going to get it or them.
