I have my first chickies...............The very first one out (actually due tomorrow) is a Blue Copper Marans from Harris5, Kirstie. I am sooooooooooo excited. 3 Heritage Delawares are out too & 1 EE is almost out. I wasn't going to set the EEs but they are such nice big eggs & the rooster is so pretty I just had to stick 1/2 dozen in there even if I give them away........LOL
I had my husband take a picture & we will continue to do so through the hatch & I will share when he shows me how.....LOL

Geebs you are over the moon right now girl celebrate..Good luck on your shipped eggs Math the best I've gotten with BCs is 7 from 13 when I set my own they mostly all hatch and I'm hoping Walt can keep us in the loop with BC approval. Wow we are having a weather event snow on Cuesta Grade and snow very close to Santa Barbara too at least we have power for now the winds are going to kick in soon

Interesting... I planted some this year and my chickens went crazy for it! I will have to see if they ate too much of it or if it actually grows back. I think I may have to protect it until it grows big enough to survive my birds devouring it.

I'd be surprised if it didn't come back...even when a plant is new it is pretty hardy. We mow ours off when it gets too big...(its a patch that's been there for over 25 years now) it can get 3 or 4 feet tall and about 4 foot round. The roots will keep getting stronger, and can go as deep as 10 feet. Which brings up a good point. If you ever thought about moving it, while it is young is the time, cause once they settle in...they are there to stay and are large and in charge.

And if you ever are trying to get rid of comfrey don't ever till it under. Even the smallest bit of root will start a new plant. It must be pulled up and dried out to be killed. Great stuff, but be sure not to let it get away from you. If you wish to buy a comfrey plant, be sure to get a sterile variety. I think the Russian variety is sterile.
