I love taking pictures of the Marans in the snow.
They sure are great all year round birds. I haven't had one issue with these birds or them being effected by any kind of weather (other than egg color..

we all know what a little weather up and down can do to our egg color from time to time.), they are very healthy and hardy. One of their ooo soooo many attractive qualities.

Love the Splash boy, I can see past his casual stance!

Yea, the hens were trying to peck on me about my poor Roo...so I got rid of the issue -- if not the problem -- and it's "peck - no - more".

Kim I absolutely love how you take care and records of your disciples. real caring! Nice

Thanks Cheryl! I love getting feedback (good or bad or indifferent...it's all important stuff to me) from folks that have got eggs, chicks or birds from me. Helps me in more ways than you know and the friendships and bonds created along the way are pretty DANG COOL too!

I wasn't going to start saving eggs for hatching until the weather warmed up a little more. There's a number of fairly local folks looking for marans, so maybe I better get them in a breeder pen and get started.

I recently found a Sportsman incubator for sale. We had one before and it was SO nice. I really want to get it, and it's not too far from here. I had "sort of" promised myself I wasn't going to hatch that many chickens, and I just got a small incubator last year. Silly me. What was I thinking? What am I thinking now?

Now I know I'm nuts.
