Oh and in answer to your question about what's hatching....nothing right now. I think I've hatched something now every week for the last month and every other week the couple months before that.......I did myself a favor and set next hatch out until the 15th of March, but going to pick through the 26 that I have saved right now and pick through the ones I get today and tomorrow to set for a hatch along with Math Ace. Oh and I set some Barnie eggs on Sunday, oops.. forgot about those.

taking a hatch break sounds like a good idea since it sounds like you've got some fun hatches coming up soon! I just got a call from the P.O. and they said I had some eggs waiting for me....so gonna go find out which kind it is! I love surprises like that!

Haha...no I have two boxes....one I had bought a while back and then the lady's birds decided to take a break laying....but she said she was sending them monday...and I made a steal on an auction over the weekend and they were being sent monday as well....so I'm just not sure which ones made it to me first...hahah...

......ha ha..I should really talk about forgetting.....I almost forgot....hopefully my eggs from cpartist arrive today and I can pick them up in the morning and set them with the Marans I hatch with Math Ace.

Awesome! I bet that's gonna be a hard hatch to be patient for if you get those in the same batch!

Just unpacked my eggies (love that my drive into my little town's P.O is less than 4 miles) ...they were the Black Coppers I won over the weekend, and they are beeeeaaaautttiiiiesss...! I'll try to take a pic later this afternoon when I get a chance. I always number my eggs with a sharpie, then take a pic so I can reference it and know which chick came from what colored egg.

Seeing these actually really makes me realize just how beautiful the splash eggs from Helen Byers I've got in lockdown really are. She's got some nice dark layers in her splashes.

I also got notice a greenhouse I ordered came in...so its looking like its gonna be a busy day here! I looooove getting amazing deals on things I've been dreaming about for a long while. Seed starting here I come!
Could this day get any better? Oh wait, yes!!! It's hatching day!!!

Edited to add: A greenhouse! Oh, my! I am so envious. I'm planting a small home orchard which I started last year and will be adding to this spring. Come on warm weather!

Good for you............The promise of Spring has certainly bitten me too. We repurposed an old refrigerator house on our place & made it into my greenhouse years ago. It was alot fun for a long time & I still dabble in it occassionally & it is this time of year that the bug bites me. I can't say that it compares with hatching chicks though.......That is just"over the top"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh...........................an afterthought since it is time to start seeds. Have any of you tried feeding Butternut squash. Wow........what fun it was to watch. My chicks went crazy over it. I cooked it in the microwave first & they gobbled it down. I am definitely going to plant a row of it this year. I looked for seed yesterday & found none. Now I will look on line.

Me thinks someone is watching out for me by keeping me busy knowing I have a hard time on hatching day. I am constantly checking the incubator...and even though I can't see anything all the way down at the bottom where the hatching tray is in the cabinet....sure doesn't stop me from talking to the little ones and listening for all the little peepers to talk back. I'm thinking its probably not my Marans yet...I would guess its the two tiny columbian wyandotte bantam eggs I slipped in there starting first, but hopefully they'll get the ball rolling!

Nice! What kind of fruit trees have you planted and what are you adding?? I started a small orchard last year here too! I have a mix of dwarf fruit trees....I have apples, pears, peaches, cherries...and I am sure I'm forgetting something, and a couple grape vines running along the fence. I am so excited to see if they will start producing this year! The green house is one of those smaller 8' steel frame hoophouses...I'm putting it on the south side of the house where I've got a bit of a microclimate going....so excited! The store I got it at still has it on sale til the end of this next week....I think there is one in St Joseph too (hint, hint

) I'm terrible!
