I have Cuckoos hatching tomorrow I set some Goldens but they either didn't start or quit around 7 days but they just started laying so we'll see if they've figured things out yet as I set some more...I have Blue Birchens cooking in my other incubator along with some more Cuckoos and some Black Coppers split with Birchens and my babies all laid today they are barely 5 months and so did the Delaware in with them and we flooded my creek looks fit for white water rafting 3 inches last night and it's still raining back to mud and pumping water again.....

I'm so excited!!!! I'm getting my first three BC Marans on Tues. I'm picking up three from one of the only local breeders that I could find. It turns out that he's got stock from some really great lines but I'm just excited because they're some seriously beautiful birds. I'm secretly hoping for a Roo but don't tell my husband I said that. He doesn't know about the incubator I just bought.......

I'll post some pics after I get them home and settled!

and good luck with the new chooks. What kind of bator did you get? We have a genesis that we use. I have a HUGE home made one I bought of craigslist that I need to clean out and start testing. It would make a nice second bator. The goal is to stagger with it and hatch in the Genesis once the homemade is up to par and ready to roll

I think my hatch is done. 2 successfull BCM chicks a 1 died durring zip. 3 CM and 1 OE (EExCM) I've got 8 BCM eggs still in the bator and letting them ride until wednesday or so. Saturday at midnight was day 21 officially so its still too early to give up but I've noticed these darn dark eggs are quite the challenge. I had a cochin broody sittin on 3 BCM eggs and 1 OE but she pooped on them

so I don't think they'll hatch. I swapped her eggs for the chicks that hatched and she's happy about that, tossed her eggs. Pictures hopefully tomorow mornin'

NOPE, my next hatch is due next weekend. I need to hurry up and get brooder # 3 finished. I am expecting about 25 chicks to hatch next weekend. I will be setting about 24 eggs this week too.

I spent the weekend taking care of chickens, selecting cockerels to cull, and gardening.

The little speckled sussex are doing wonderful. . . . I am missing bonding time with them because I put them straight from Dh's shower to brooder # 2 - outside. Maybe tomorrow, I will get a chance to just sit and watch them. I can't tell which ones are the cockerels

Oh, He knows. He is just hoping that he can get something out of this deal by not complaining

EITHER that or he doesn't know enough about the obsession to be AFRAID

yeah...... I think he's learning though. I have my chicks downstairs in our basement at the moment. He came down yesterday and was like "Huh, how many do we have?" to which my reply was honest. So he says "I thought we were only going to have 18....well you're just going to get them anyway!"

Man I love that Man!

Twenty-some days ago we were placing bets on who would have the least amount of Roos in their hatches, since there were 3 or 4 of us that were due to hatch at about the same time
jumpy.gif
...I said that the hatch that Pinkchick had in the bator would produce the best ratio of pullets to roos
yippiechickie.gif
....how did this all turn out?

Who won the faux bet?
