There is HOPE!!! 2 weeks ago I was without electricity for 27 hours. Lost power on Mon with lockdown due on Wed and hatch on Sat. Of the 36 eggs in my bator 30 hatched......one day late. I do realize, being in TX, my outside temps weren't as cold as you. But there is Hope!!

Look what I woke up to Easter Morning!! The Easter bunny brought ducklings! Okay, not really, the broody duck did

AND:
OMG more broodies going broody together and hatching chicks here...One mama is an olive egger the other a BCM x split Lav Orp lol. No one wants to give up thier spot so they hatched thier babies together.

I am happy to help you with chick identification, no problem. I do the same thing at my uncle's place and for my parents stock when I hatch them. Just let me know when you need some help!

You'll have to let me know how many chicks you end up with all together! I'm excited for your blue birchens!! They just put a smile on my face!

Thank you. I don't know exactly how many eggs that duck had in there, probably a baker's dozen or so but every last one of the hatched. I will try and count ducklings tomorrow. We have to make them some type of pen tomorrow and a bigger house. I wasn't sure she would really hatch any because last fall she had a bunch of eggs and gave up sitting one them because I put her nest inside a pen for protection and she didn't like it lol. I can't put them in the other duckhouse because the drakes might hurt the ducklings trying to mate the mother lol.
