I have a 5 week old BCM roo that is already developing a lot of coppering in the breast. Any chance this will change when he goes through his juvenile molt? I'm just trying to figure out if I should cull him now (while I have other people interested in feeding him until maturity
)
This is caused by too little melanizers, right? I'm guessing it wont but thought it was better to understand it fully by checking with the pros here!

I know this is an old post, but I found this interesting. The first thing I thought when I saw VC's cockerel was that I had one with a comb just like it, then I read further and saw the little guy had residual white tips on his breast feathers..which is exactly what my guy with that type of comb also has! And he'll be 7 weeks old on Monday.

I realized that was going to sound weird right after I posted it. The other cockerels all have darkish combs. Hold on, I'll get a pic..
Every other cockerel has a blackish-red comb, (I know it'll lighten up to a uniform red) but this one guy has bright pinkish red dome-shaped comb. It's so bright it almost looks fake. It just looks markedly different than all the others do right now.
I'm sure the white tips are just residual tuxedo white, I just found it interesting that his took longer to fade than the others and that comb just jumps out at me.
