Ivy Home depot has these colored flashlights up by the cash registers. They are made so it can be a flashlight or a flashing light etc. for your car. They have a string on the end of them. I hung one upside down in the coop and they only stay on for a little while and then turn themselves off with the flashlight part. They even come in red. I have a blue one and it works really well. I think they are L.E.D. and since they turn off they battery seems to last a long time. They are under 5 bucks.

A glow stick! Who'da thunk it? I just may have to try that. I think they will learn fairly quickly that they need to go in the house at night, but one of those sticks just might be the ticket. I've got a number of younger chicks that I will be needing to train to larger housing before long so it sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the link!

Geebs-I read your post yesterday and neglected to comment. You are a ROCK, girl! They say to appreciate the light you have to experience the dark. You've been there for sure. Hats off to you..

Math-I can't imagine what you are going through. I think what you are doing would be one of the hardest things to cope with on a daily basis. My dad and I are not close. I've always wished we were closer. With that being said, I can't imagine being able to do what you are doing. Be sure to take care of yourself. When my daughter was so sick I used to pray for strength. One particularly bad day I was sitting in the lunchroom at St. Jude, holding Katie in my arms. I was praying for strength so I could be strong for her. This is absolutely true, folks. It was cold in the lunchroom. Most of the hospital was kept fairly cool. I started to feel warm, and I looked up. The skylight above me had just filled with sunlight. It felt so good. I then looked around and NO OTHER skylight was lit up! It lasted about a minute and then the clouds took over again. I thought, "Okay. I'll take that as a sign." A few minutes later a very gracious mom who's son was dying of cancer came up to me and told me, "Susie, I just want to tell you that you are one of the strongest women I have ever met." We talked for a while. When she left a number of thoughts went through my head. Mainly I felt thankful and realized that prayer works. The answers are there when you look for them. My prayers are with you.

Dad was in his early 60's when he got his diagnosis AND it was WAY TOO YOUNG.

I was going to post more Debbi, but then I realized that I have probably been whining and posting too much already!

So, I will leave it at this.... I have made a thousand phone calls over the past 6 months trying to find assitance with this disease.
All for NAUGHT! Not until AFTER this recent hospilization have I been provide with phone numbers and places that can help me.

NOT until this week did I find out that for as little as $9 an hour or $65 a day I can get a break and dad can be taken of by qualified individuals!

SO, if your ex-husband's family needs information - - -please hook them up with me! I can help them avoid the nightmare of the BLACKHOLE of information and resources available to them . ..

I am trying . . . . but I just stay keyed up and stressed out right now!

For mild stresses I like Rescue Remedy or a combination of (bach flowers) hornbeam, elm and mustard. For really heavy duty stress, a cup of Kava Kava tea will set you back to rights. It does impair though, so only use if someone else can take over.

*note, the pills can be bad for the liver if taken long term so I have only linked to the root. I use the coarse and make a tea with lots of honey*

YES! And white chesnut! That TOTALLY helped me through my pregnancy when I had a hard time sleeping because I couldn't shut my brain off! It's by Bach as well. Two drops and some deep breathing...I know it's hippy dippy but it worked!
