Lol yep we have a rumpless marans girl. Dh named her guinea so we call her Guinea Girl so as not to confuse her with the guineas. I have a little blue marans girl who we named Little Pooper because all she did was poop (more than usual). Whistle was named that because when he was little he sounded exactly like a train whistle when he tried to crow. Hop Along is another lame roo we have who hurt himself fighting with another roo. Storm (aka Storm trooper) is a mean terd roo we have kept around who is a Dark blue copper who storms after people, especially my teen dd who decided it would be fun to tease him. It is practically a game between those two. She comes out and looks around for him in the back yard and he hides and tries to sneak up behind her. He never attacks or chases her until she looks at him and acts scared and starts running. Then it gets really funny. Its even funnier when she can't tell him from one of the other black copper roosters if she isn't wearing her glasses or contacts. Once I told her, "Hey that's not Storm" and it was...

Pacific North Wet.....I crack myself up this morning. Anyway, no problem about the meet up on the 18th the gal that I hatched the Wellies out for is coming to get them on the 9th of July. I would be happy to hatch more out for the 3 of you that wanted them this fall when I turn the 'bator back on.

Wouldn't ya know it....my last hatch of this season yielded 4 Blue Copper roos, 1 Black Copper pullet and 1 Blue Copper pullet and DON do I ever have a comb on one of the little roos that you have to see...it's the weirdest thing, I'm thinking birth defect, but would like your opinion when I get a photo of it, if you don't mind. Photo will probably be this weekend.

Aye~ The sun is coming back my friend, not to worry.

Morning Mel!

Good morning to all

Interesting to read about the medicated chick starter and Vit B deficencies. I've yet to have a problem with cocci or the leg problems in chicks. Blue Butt is still limping around, but he has figured out how to flat out run! If he had an infection, he would've been dead by now, this has been going on for a month or so. I feed the medicated chick starter for five weeks, then start to infuse some Game Bird Breeder feed (non-medicated/22% protein) into their feed. Unless it's really wet outside, they are usually weaned off the chick starter by 8 weeks, and eat what the rest of the flock eats. I feed all of them a combo of the layer crumbles and the Game Bird, along with BOSS, millet, safflower, and whatever they get when they free range.

Pip got the shock of his life the other day. I had gone to town, and when I got back and got out of the truck, he charged me.

I just happened to have one of those "freebie" Weekly Trader magazines in my hand, and I launched it at him. He must've got about 10 feet up in the air, straight up!!

Then he ran off screaming like a little girl, and got the rest of the flock all stirred up. I never did hit him with it, but he saw this thing coming at him, making all that rustling noise, and he was UP and OUT!

He has since been behaving himself, and is very leery of me getting too close to him. Good...

Funny how the DD teases your roo, that may literally come back to bite her in the arse! Sometimes I can't resist myself. All I have to say to Pip is: " pip pip a rooooooooooooo" and he immediately flies into a rage!

It never fails to bring him a running, drop that wing, growl and dance. He made the error of doing that in front of Clyde the other day, and Clyde must've thought he was challenging him! Lots of running, flapping, and screaming involved with that one. Lucky for Pip, he's faster than Clyde!

Morning y'all!

That's interesting Debbi! I feed my guys almost exactly the same thing as you except I add turemic, cinnamon and fenugreek to the mix.

I really pray the sun comes out!!!! I feel like I'm withering! I guess I did get to pick about a pint of strawberries out of my little alpine patch

Guess it's that or the moss!

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm going to try and get some photos today. There are a few of Kim's babes that are growing out nicely and I just really want to get some opinions on my BCM roos and pullet. Theyr'e at about 14 weeks I believe. Anyway y'all have a great day!

haha...I'm cooking some blue marans from helen byers, some of my own blue stock, black coppers, some cuckoos, a couple birchen marans eggs, a couple sussex eggs one of which is maaaassive that's doing really well and a couple blue cornish and a couple white laced red cornish eggs. I think that's it. Not a huge hatch, but I'm still excited!

Lynette,

I think things will finally start settling down for me...I am going down to one job again, and staying at the place that is less stressful and picking up a few hours to make up the difference, so that should mean I will be able to take more time at home without feeling like I'm running around like I'm stark raving mad but never getting half of what I need to get done out of the way.

I'm heading out of town this weekend, but next week after the 4th will be the beginning of less stress for me...so yes...i will get pics finally.....there's been quite a bit of rain which always makes keeping the chickies from playing in the puddles quite difficult...
roll.png
Its supposed to be clear for a few days tho, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll take some pics of this hatch I've got brewing too if all goes well.

I'm glad everything is calming down for you and you can get some much needed R&R. No big hurry on the pics just put up whenever you have time. I know how it is! I wouldn't put up any pics of this place lately lol, we have been getting alot of rain (which we needed) but now everything is muck and mud in the runs and the chickens are filthy until the next time it rains and they get a shower. I have half a mind to give them all baths in the duck's pool
big_smile.png
Of course after they got wet they would go roll around in the dirt under the vehicles and get dirty again. All my white chickens are brown except the little white orp babies who can't get out to the mud LOL!
