Thanks! Will try that out!

You might try putting a little mineral oil on the chick feed, it will lubricate it, and hopefuly let the poop "slide" out without sticking...
You can't use cooking oil because it will be absorbed by the chicks body and not lubricate the poop. Mineral just goes in and out....so lubricates the poop.
This is what we use on horses that have problems.

Ayeup,

Once I identify a chick with that issue I tag them and watch every day and clean as needed. Once they start to eat and drink properly and over time the issue does go away.

I am by no means an expert, but I do have wheaten marans, and they dont look at all like your chick. They dont stay white long, if it was a wheaten it would have it's color by now. Here is a pic of my wheaten chicks. I have read on a european website somewhere that it is not uncommon for a white one to pop up occasionally? I think that is what the term 'sport' means? Pretty bird though!

Hi Marans Lovers! I need to find a home for my Wheaten Marans Roo, my chickens had a very long, hard winter so he looks a little shabby still. And he lost alot of comb and two toenails, poor guy. It hasn't slowed him down though. He is good to my hens, they love him. He is fertile and has made lots of nice healthy babies. He has been protective of the hens, and my 7yr old is terrified of him. He isn't a problem unless you are chasing the hens around, or crawling around on the ground pretending to be a chicken.

He went to live with my mom, and that didn't go well at all, he got real testy there with everyone for some reason, so I brought him home, and he settled back down. Here it has mostly been my son he bothers. I pin my roo's when they get uppity, he respects that. I posted pics of him last fall and was told he appears to be good quality, so I was hoping he could go to someone who raises Marans. His sister lays a nice dark brown egg. I could get more pics, of him and his sister if needed.
