Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I saw that too the other day! I didn't realize they had stolen the photo, but I bypassed them quickly because they had trouble spelling the name of the breed itself. That alone says alot to me. Not that all breeds are the easiest to spell, but Marans is pretty simple, at least in my opinion it is.

I was just out putting fresh water in the pens again and while its warm, it is not too hot with the breeze, so I might be able to get some pics of some of my other chicks growing out. I need to do some culling today as well. And weeding, and mowing, and harvesting of veggies, and trim some trees and about 85 other things. We'll see how much I get done, but I want to make time to sort a few birds for sure.

Vicki,

It is usually that kind of spelling that makes me look to see whose birds they really are!

Bev just wrote me back, and she is on it!

Bit cooler/less humid here today too! Guess that means I finally get to mow! Don't try to do it all in one day lady!!

Good...I'm glad that you let her know and that she is taking care of it. There is a lady a few cities away that posts on craigslist and has snatched photos of others eggs and such and posts them like it is what her birds lay for color and such. All that kind of stuff bothers me a lot.

Glad you are getting a break in the weather too! And don't you worry...I'll be reserving a spot right in the middle of the day...that nasty terribly time from 3 to 4 pm where my mind turns to mush and I get stupid where I will take a nap and recharge since its my day off. Gotta save a bit of time somewhere on my day off to do something I want to do haha

I'm sitting here, speechless. I can't believe someone would commit such blatant fraud - and on a public site. I bet Bev is spitting nails right now!!! I've started putting a watermark on all my photos - published here, on facebook, and any where on line. A few folks think I'm silly but looking at how Bev's picture is being used, I'm glad I do it.

Another lesson to be learned - don't buy chickens from people who can't spell! Oy.

Dang.

Yes, stealing pics is something I won't tolerate! I've had it happen to me several times on ebay. Once I reported it to them and also notified the seller that it was MY picture (and one time my whole auction, ver batum!!), they generally pull the auction. If they don't or ebay doesn't, I quickly notify both that I will contacting their state's Attorney General. That one really does the trick!

Next time I start selling stuff on ebay, I will be using watermarks!

With that fabulous little avatar of yours, I bet folks have "borrowed" your pictures!! (He's a serious cutie!)

I was doing a Google search one day and had one of my photos come up credited to someone else. I was NOT amused. Been using watermarks ever since. (I also had someone else enter one of my horse photos into a photo contest and win second place with it! Thing was published in a magazine. Also not amusing. One of my friends recognized my horse and called me about it. I should have learned my lesson then. I actually never occured to me that anyone might want to steal chicken pictures - but I'm learning.)

Well thank you, that's baby Clyde. I don't sell eggs or chicks, so if someone uses my chicken avatars, it would be from here or facebook. You must be a much sweeter person than I am, I would've prosecuted the people that won money with my picture!

Ugh. Just got in from outside. I'm dripping wet from humidity. Had to clean my glasses. Couldn't see a thing because so much sweat had dripped from them. I had to move some chicks to the next larger pen. I wanted to do it last night when it would have been cooler, but the bugs were so bad I couldn't stand to be out in them. The light in the barn was attracting all sorts of flying menaces. So even though it was hotter today than I would have liked, I went ahead and moved them. I hope they don't stress too bad. I didn't want to wait till tomorrow. It's supposed to be even hotter then. Hopefully they will like their new surroundings and settle in quickly and not stress too bad.

HEY PINK!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure you were the one I originally read used zip ties to mark chicks. I just finished doing that for the first time. It worked GREAT!

Once I had the zip ties out in the barn I even found several other uses for them. And guess what??? You can even get them in PINK! I'm going to go buy some more!

Hey, Pink - I know I'm late in commenting on your blue copper boy, but I just wanted to say (I'm sure someone else has already said so) that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this guy's long back! It's what I'm working on this year in my black coppers. I also love his lacing. I think you have a winner there!
