Nice ones, Pink! Fire those bad broodies!

Gees, the eggs would've hatched on their own here, hen or no hen. I can't remember the last time we had an 80* day...like May??

those are gorgeousness! I can't wait til I get to try some of those from you in my incubator sometime. That reminds me that I heard pipping yesterday under some of my broody wyandotte bantams. Which also reminds me....why in the heck don't I put some of my gorgeous eggs under them? Oh wait...maybe because if I get within two feet of them they are ready to peck my eyeballs out. I have 7 of them in one chicken house right now and they've abandoned the idea of nests, and have all piled into a corner....that's the corner with the pipping. I am NOT going to check yet....I'll wait til they are up and scooting around before I try to get a head count.

Thanks! Took that photo just this morning outside in full light with no flash....I love how shiny they are. These are the darkest eggs I have been blessed with all year...so when they kept showing up in the nest boxes I couldn't very well put them in the eating egg cartons.

Now I don't know how I will control myself from putting the ones that they keep on giving me in the 'bator too. See it is an illness.........................................

They are purty

if you ever want to save turning that bator on Kim just give me a call and I'll come up there and get em from you. I can hatch them out for a commission of chicks

and I think my two gals from you are going to start laying in the next few weeks. Can't wait to show you their first eggs!

Well gee, you wouldn't want your Sportsman to get all dusty and rusty would you?? Lucky you have one. I'm still looking around here. Found an incubator and a hatcher in the next town over, but he wanted $1,100.00 for them both. A bit more than I wanted to pay!

I'm thinking now that I am just going to hatch out some Splash babies. It will save me some work in the heat, as I won't have to build a quarantine pen for an older roo. Vicki, sorry, wish I could've gotten one of the boys, but the egg hatching will be better for me, and the bird!

Not to mention I have to rehome or freezerize some of the boys now here first! Can't give them away here right now. Now to wait for some cooler weather to get some eggs in. I can see them frying in the mail in this heat.

that's ok...I totally understand. This heat has totally changed my game plan for this year in pretty much every way. I'm hoping this fall it will cool off and I will be able to get some new pens built and pretty much do 40 other things. yarg!
where are ya planning on getting your hatching eggs from?

I don't know yet. There was a guy here in MO that had some decent looking splash birds at one time, but I've not seen any of his sales lately. Not even sure what lines I want either. All I know is that I need:

1) Big chunky body type

2) Heavy shank/foot feathering

3) Really good combs and background of good combs

4) Good splash color, with coppering preferred

5) Decent egg color (5 at the very least!)

There, that's not too much to ask is it??

haha too funny. Maybe if someone on here has some splashes they could pair up for you that fit that description and send you the eggs you'd be in business? Did the guy in MO happen to be Wheeler? can't remember his first name off the top of my head.

Cheesecake is my specialty. Have a friend who's mother was from Poughkeepsie, NY and he will only eat my cheesecake cause it's true NY style.
