I so hear you on the feeling it part. I can't take aspirin at the moment since I burst a blood vessel in my eye while hauling limbs. It doesn't hurt, but talk about embarrassing when people get this look of shock on their face ask me what I did to my eye. Makes a girl feel real purty
I'm so glad you are getting a break down there too.
Its been so wonderful after all the heat and humidity. Sounds like you got a lot done today! I am hoping I will have that luck tomorrow in being productive. I have the day off and can work at my own pace. My brother is a work a holic and works on average 80 to 90 hours a week...so the pace we were working at was rather frantic for me. Not gonna complain tho since I am in a really good place to make some improvements on the barn and build some outdoor breeding pens and tear out what I have now. I have most of the materials already on hand....what I need most is a couple of easy going days before diving back in again.

Is she doing the free range thing?? Maybe she's laying on the sly??
None of my pullets or hens have ever squatted, they are too busy RUNNNNINNNGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope, I haven't been free-ranging them for 3 weeks or so now. She just goes into the only nest box to kick up the shavings. Then she pokes her head through the holes (since the nest box is a milk crate) while my Red Star is laying and bothers her.
Wow, I couldn't work 80 hours a week. My back and feet kill me after work (my work is outside)...and the most I do in one day is 9 1/4 hours.
no kidding...I couldn't work that many hours either. Before I moved back to Nebraska I was an inventory manager at an art store fulltime and was going to grad school full time, but that wouldn't even touch how that many hours. I guess I don't mind workin hard for myself around the place...but I do enjoy a nap now and then and even a lazy day here and there.

My Wheaten & Blue Maran hens R just 24 wks & no eggs yet. I did find 2 over the last wk under their fern "jungle". not sure whos they R, I have an Olive egger & Barnvelder hen the same age.
It's been very hot & humid in NH this yr. got some relief , raining 2day
I think all this crazy hot weather may be affecting the egg laying. I know I have two new layers, and the older hens are molting, but the eggs are few and far between here lately. Weather has cooled off here finally, so maybe I'll start getting some eggs again?
Did you give the girls a good talking to?? I swear, that works!
