Do not know who you bought these mixed Marans from but would contact them and ask them where the VULTURE hocks came from. Marans do not have Vulture Hocks.
I caught him today trying to show Cracker where the best place would be for her to lay her eggs...
Look carefully, he is in the back corner of the coop making a nest and cluckign for her to try it out!
So PINK These are crackers three choices: Mr. Dark, Tsunami, or Tsunami's young son.
All other BCM roosters have been culled! I am going to need to thin the Delaware cockerel count next. . . .
Thank God those boys haven't been crowing until 20 weeks of age! They are so much easier to let grow out because of that
Sorry the pictures are so rough..... Everyone seems to be on the move today!
mathace, what do you see in these males that even make you want to use them as breeder males ??
Maybe it is just be, but I get a little annoyed when I see people selling "show" chickens when the breeding stock is obviously not such. Also, one should be able to spell the name of the breed, right? I just feel like it misleads people starting out in the breed and they spend a small fortune getting less than quality stock.
Sorry, I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today!

Look at at least two or more of the pictures and you will see stiff hard feathers hanging down over the Shanks coming from the lower thigh, that is what is called vulture shanks.
Let's see the oldest one you have seen before and said he would be a nice boy with a long back female.
He has made some rather nice looking females for me.
I would expect to see his younger son to keep the really nice rich copper and he does have a longer back unlike his daddy.
The Mr. Dark.... Well, he is fresh blood and I am justing waiting to see if he that white feather issue I am trying to step away from.
I guess it is your turn.... Why wouldn't I want to use them as breeder males?
