I still have all my roos!!!! Dropping the price again. Redneck and the big roo are fighting and I just dont have any where to put them. I think the girls are getting close to laying so more problems coming.

BTW I had 4 pips and three have hatched today! 28 more to go!

It is just day 19. They are NH from my neighbor and were outside so that may be why so early. I have EE and reds mostly, 2 lav split ameraucanas, but more eggs coming soon.

I read that glad for you!

Hi Folks,
Yesterday I posted about my 6 month old BCM pullet that has a big comb.. just thought you'd like to see it.. I have 6 pullets right now, I'm not breeding for SQ birds but would certainly like to breed as closest to the standard as I can. I have some with middle toe feathering, this girl with this comb (who has the middle toe feathering, and abit of an upright tail) but they all seem to have nice size and I'm really happy with them, but I wasn't sure if I should take this girl out of the program or not, depending on how major a fault this is. It only got huge and flopped over in the last 3 weeks. But I have a really nice roo from Copper Hackle Coop to hopefully help these girls out a bit

Good morning all

Looks like another beauty of a day here again! Tomorrow the heat comes back, but only for a day...winter is coming.

I checked out that hen that died, and it looked to me what I expected; a broken neck. Poor dear. Almost lost another one at the end of the day. One of the little cockerels decided to go out in the yard with the big birds. Evidently, the big boys didn't like the idea, and ran him through the field fence that surrounds the yard. As I was putting them all in the run last night, I heard a swquack from the pasture behind the yard. Yup, it was Muttly, and he couldn't figure out how to get back in. I tried reaching over the fence for him with the net, but that sent him further into the pasture, so I quit. Right before darkness fell, he all of a sudden got really smart, and found his way back in!

I gave him the "chicklet call", and here he comes a running. He's a cull too, but I don't want any of them to meet their maker in a tragic way, so was glad he came back. With the four girls gone now, there seems to be so much more room in the coop; it almost looks empty! Now, if only I could get some of these roos gone! Keara ~ the only fault I can see in your boys is their dumplings are missing!!

Combs that have flopped during egg production are totally acceptable....its the combs that are flopped from the beginning and stay that way forever that can cause problems. Hope Snowbird comes by and explains it for us, he is better at explaining combs than I am.
She has nice copper color.

I can get Spike at my local grocery stores like Safeway and Winco...matter of fact all the grocery stores here carry it. It comes in several different varieties....oh and I can also get it at the health food store.

Well Pink, that gal just wanted you to be sure to find that beauty! Pretty!!!!

Thanks for the pic of SPIKE. We don't have Safeway, Winco, or a Health Food store out here. Wonder if Wal-Mart carries it?? What all is in it that makes it so good?
