Haha you caught me. I've been wanting a blue wheaten rooster ever since I saw Illia post a pic of hers. I totally fell in love with him.
Yep I need to finish those breeding pens. The problem with that is, I keep changing my mind of what I want to put in there. There is only gonna be 6 of them and three are taken and then I have other breeds that I need to beef up the flock on but then I want to play with the Marans 'colors' more.....sigh

I hear ya for sure! I keep changing how many pens I'm going to be building precisely because of that reason. Too funny. I was looking pretty seriously about what I need to do to prepare my barn for moving birds in for the winter and got kind of overwhelmed since I have so many things to do. Luckily I will have time tomorrow after I get out of work. Today however...I am a vegetable in my brain....I'm overly tired from my long day yesterday indeed.

Just don't overwork yourself and hurt your back any more. I don't have a barn but we have a metal outbuilding with a dirt floor that I am really thinking about taking over. Dh has some of his stuff in there but half of it, he doesn't even use. I think it would make an awesome winter brooder for hens and chicks. There is electricity out there and water spigot right next to it and a covered double carport area. My son has his vw van in one part of it (a project that never ends) maybe I could tell him if he doesn't hurry up and finish it I could put chickens in there too LOL! What's funny is, one time he left the window down and one of the key west hens jumped in and laid an egg in the driver's seat

This is my roo. I have him in with 2 wheaten hens. I used the hens to make blue wheaten olive eggers with my blue wheaten Am.

I sold my black copper hens so I am getting all blue and splash with varying amounts of copper from the blue and splash copper (normal coloring) girls.

I'm being really careful with my back indeed...its hard as I feel like I'm being really lazy right now. I usually try to take advantage of my time off working, but for now I'm keeping myself entertained with doing technical drawings of my pens so I get the measurements and my materials all sorted.
That metal building sounds like a good one! I would think if it were me, I would just take over! hahaha The water spigot is a huge bonus, let alone the carport area....sounds like the perfect place to build in.

The people who lived here before us had some horses in there. There is a horse stall attatched to the other side of the building but I already have a bachelor pad in there now LOL. I left everything as is with the stalls and just ran fencing around it, added a gate, and pushed a pallet coop between one of the stalls so I could get horses or something later still if I wanted to. The bad part about that is I have to duck down or climb over the rails between the stalls to chase the roos when I have to catch them and they know it! The little terds! I have one naughty one who will attack me and then run to the other side where he knows I am too lazy to try and chase him.
There is a little thingy where they had an automatic waterer attatched to the spigot as well. I just would need to get more copper tubing or small hose to run from there.
