That isn't a carnation com, or a split comb, or a twist, - - What is it? ? ? The SOP folks may have to take a pic of that comb and give it a name LOL

I am VERY tempted to get more Marans eggs and start over, but I just can't bring myself to not narrow it down. I think I would be tossing some nice birds that may not be guilty and finding the eggs I want to start over with will be near impossible, unless BEV is feeling generous and would let loose of some eggies, but I know that won't happen right now. It would be out of this world though! A girl can dream!

Just dub the combs! Problem solved!

Hello. I am new to chickens, new to BYC, and was pleased to find a "Maran Thread." I purchased two French Black Copper Maran Hens (pullets) along with two half breed darlings just last week. I'm excited about having chickens, and I am excited about the breed.

SLACKER CRACKER.... has laid an egg BUT it looks like someone else is laying too.
There are two other pullets in that pen - cracker's sister and keara's pullet.

There is a leghorn egg in the middle.
One of my F1 eggs are on the left.....

The eggs on top or bottom are cracker's egg and probably her sister's egg too. The good news here is that I have TWO egg layers in that pen now

One more to go . . . .

I did nothing to this photo except crop it and make it larger for you to see it better. This is how the light played on Bill this morning......Bill is copper...not silver. LOL! I think it is a sign for me to get ready for the Silver Birchen boys coming from Zanna.

This is the real Bill for those of you who have not seen him and yes he is running away from me with attitude, he's like that, lol. I didn't notice until this photo, but he is getting his tail back finally....molt seems like it takes forever when a person is so used to seeing them in all their glory fully feathered.

He is a handsome devil. How old is he? Just wondering how long it will Clyde to fill out like that if he lives that long.....
