Yup...its a balmy 23 out this morning. I'm bundling up to do chores and write down my final entries and get them in the mail before I head to work at 11.

Pip was the "bad" renegade last night, and refused to go in the run. He spent a rather chilly night out by himself, and he just showed up on the front porch, knocking on the screen door and crowing!

I'll bet he goes in pronto tonight!

Well, my marans hatch from my ebay eggs is over. Out of 18 eggs that were sent to me I got 8 chicks(3 fully developed did not pip) one was dead this morning but the other 7 look good. This is just not a good tiime of year for hatching plus with shipping the eggs on top of that but since I am not sure of the quality of these chicks I am happy with the 7 to see how they develop. I am going to boil the up an egg and see if I can get them to eat that--there not a problem with feeding marans chicks egg yolks is there??? My guinea keets love egg yolk and really get strong eating them.

No...I feed boiled egg yolk to mine when they are little to give them a boost. i will also feed them crushed oatmeal...they go nuts for both! I think that getting 7 chicks from shipped eggs this time of year isn't half bad....I've definitely had worse! Can't wait to see pics!

haha....I hope not! I don't mind the changes in the seasons...especially after living in Minnesota where it would get sooooo cold and was winter sometimes for 6 months of the year. That got really old.

Never known that little bugger to "apologize" for anything! He was cold and hungry, and it was more of a, "get your tired, old arse out here!" kind of knock!
