txmel ,

Congrats on finding close stock! Out of 31 eggs, I've had 10 chicks hatch. Guess I shouldn't complain, I know more folks that've had worse luck than me. The last hatch was the best so far, 5 chicks out of 12 eggs. All eggs I've received were packaged very well, none broken, but all the jostling in the mail seems to do them in. I don't have a candler yet, but I go by the eggs received as percentage. I just set them and forget them. I couldn't see squat with the first batch of eggs I got that I candled with a homemade set-up, so figured I'd just let the chips fall where they may. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR HATCH!!

thank you so much! i have my fingers crossed. i use a strong flashlight but i cant see much until around day 14 by then i can figure out if there is anything living. all my eggs were packaged well also but like i said only 1 hatched out of the 30 eggs.

Debbi,
I will. These are from last week or so. Just wanted something to use to figure out posting. It's rainy here in Oregon today, so will wait for a better day. I have a nice (I think) blue roo in with these girls and a very pretty group of Wellsummers too I would like to share pics of.
Take care, and thanks for the welcome!

currently i'm using a homemade incubator built by my hubby.

it holds temp and humidity very well. but the eggs came in the mail during the 100 degree temps days and the boxes were fairly beat lost 2 eggs in shipping on both deliveries, couldnt really see in the eggs well enough to tell if there was detached air cells or not? but i figure the ride in was rather rocky for them.

Hi guys

. Kind of quiet on here the last day or two.

I got out this morning and took some pics of my juvies born late May.
My babies are growing up

Usually, the boys pose better for me, as they are so watchful, but this is the only clear shot I could get that shows the roo
I'm liking the best..background, far right:

All the rest were color streaks, so the rest of these will be girlie pics.

I think this Black Copper is going to have the best coloring:

My two Blue Coppers, just in the last week have a few copper glints coming in (I'm hoping they are late bloomers),
but holy moly, their combs and wattles have really grown and reddened. They just turned 17 weeks. Their momma laid
at 19 1/2 weeks, but the days were getting longer, not shorter, then. I'm not sure what to expect with the daughters.
One Black Copper has a bit more red/enlarged comb, but the rest are "age appropriate".
