Leg colour. Your Rock should have yellow legs, the Marans, white.

Barred Rocks should have yellow legs, Cuckoos will have a whiteish/pink leg, and should have shank feathers. Seeing as how they came from a hatchery, the Cuckoos probably don't have feathered shanks? When they feather in more, the BR barring pattern will be crisper, the Cuckoo more muddled.

I am afraid so. just wait untill they have feather out, the first ones to feather out will be the cockoo marans, and the Barred rocks will the last ones to feather out.

Way to clean house vicki! I'm impressed

Thank ya ma'am! should hopefully be at least 50 birds lighter by tomorrow morning. Hoping for more. That includes sorting the blue wyandotte bantams I raise for my dad and some cornish bantams my mom doesn't want anymore. She's inheriting a few of my cull pullets for starting her large fowl layer flock over, so overall...its goin well. I'm determined to not get stuck with more birds than I need this winter. I also have a two pens of birds to be processed. They will fill the freezer nicely for winter....so in the next week or so, I would think we will be down probably 75 birds.

No feathered legs on either but the pics on ideal don't have feathered legs.
I thought they both had same colored legs. One's dot on head was more distinct than the other and I think one has more feathers in.

I'll have to look when I get home tonight maybe post a pic or two.

Thanks everybody

Seeing as they are only 5 days old, sometimes the Marans will hold onto the yellowish cast to their legs from absorbing the yolk. In a few more days, you should be able to see a difference.
