You're the BEST! Thanks! Hubby wants one for thanksgiving... the mean one. I am going to be putting him in a small pen by himself SOON. Sick of not being able to go in the Marans pen.
So the new Marans Babies... Both seem to be roos.... what do you have in the water over there Becky!
One is Blue (not splash) no copper yet at 3 weeks but the Black copper has lots of copper on his wings. Both are just huge next to the other chicks, even my production reds! That poor tiny Lav Am in with all those giant chicks...
Soon to have a bachelor pen so roos will not be a problem anymore.
haha no problem...happy to help! Last year I had two cull boys for thanksgiving and everyone loved them. They were fantastic.
I don't know what the deal is with the last two hatches for me...but out of 7 chicks I have 5 or 6 pullets. I seem to be having the opposite problem. The funny part is that I really wanted more cockerels....always seems to be that way. All these chicks were cuckoos...and the funny part is that the three pullets in the oldest hatch are just huge and dwarf the cockerel in that hatch..its kinda funny! They are gonna be big girls!
Most of my hatches so far have been pullet heavy.... I think. I pulled 10 roos out of 26 (11 weeks old so should be close) and the next hatch of 15 I see 6 roos. I have not yet done a head count on the 2-3 week olds yet.
I need some good unrelated Roos for the Marans so that is fine. Just the next batch from Becky needs to be ALL pullets.
