Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Hoping I get the chance to get out to the brooders and move some chicks around today. Some are ready to go into the grow out pen and the little Birchens are ready to move into the next size up brooder. Batteries are all charge up and sandisk is empty...want to get updated photos of the Birchens and the little red carnation I am growing.

Oh and have to get photos of white on a Black Copper hens wing tip for Math if she still needs it for the faults list.

Charlotte opted to stay in the run this morning. Let the chicklets out of their crate, and they immediately start flying like doves at a wedding!

Charlotte seems to like their company; I'm guessing because they are "her" color too. She was being very friendly to them, even letting them eat from her pile of food.

Also noticed the other day, that Roy has been knocked down a peg on the pecking order. Myron has taken his place as the free range flock leader. So sad, Roy now just stays to himself. Wonder now that he has lost some status if he will get along with Clyde again?? Clyde is the man, but I can see Myron wanting to knock him out too. I keep those two seperately, so no chance Clyde will be dethroned!

LOL! If I let all of my boys together.....within a matter of minutes I would probably see a pile of roosters with Bill kicked back sitting center stage smack dab right on the very top...grinnin' like the big dog who just kicked all the puppies off his porch.

Morning everyone- got 1 to 2 inches of snow last night so DH is out plowing and of course that puts us behind in getting our work garage organized and ready for snow LOL but the babies are clean and in a bigger pen! Have to go and start moving stuff around myself to see if I can get some of it done. Have a ton of feed to unload off our enclosed trailer got it for $1 per 10 pound bag!!!!

Rockin' deal on the feed.
Been searching for someone to go in on a ton of feed with me...but no one I know can feed it fast enough or store a half ton at one time. Bummer to 'cause I can get a ton for $130.00.

That is a great price, wish you were closer. I go through a ton every two weeks.

You mean your grandkids?? No, but it's nice today, so will try to get some. Something wonky has happened to my camera, it won't upload the pics like it used to. This has happened before when Windows updated.

I found a way to get them on, but it's a PIA and in a whole different file. Worked on it yesterday to no avail...

I had thought about buying feed in bulk too. Used to be, the local MFA would special mix feed for you, and rent you a storage bin for it. Then when you are getting low, give them a call, and they will deliver more. Don't know if they still do it or not, or what the minimum purchase would be these days. Guess I'll head to town on Monday and see.. Sure would free up some space around here, and be much easier on the old bones. I just love lugging the 50# sacks off the truck...NOT!
