Don't worry - out of a dozen, I'd hope you would get a few!!
I guess I'm spoiled with 11 out of 12 hatching at home!

I think my PO plays soccer with my boxes!
(seriously though, the boxes usually look like they did okay. Beat up on the corners or a little smushed, but not totally squashed.)

Yeah surely i'll have a few hatch out of a dozen i keep reading most people have a shipped egg hatch rate between 40% & 60%. I would be ok with that. If i get a few hens and at least one roo i can take it from there and hatch my own.

Wow 11 out of 12. Sounds like you have it down to a science lol. I have had good success hatching my own in years past. It has been around 10 yrs since having any chickens. My bator is old but seems to be working just fine.

One out of five has been laying for a couple months. Her eggs are very dark brown. One that just started this past couple of weeks is laying the weird eggs. Half brown/ half tan with speckles on one end. Everyone else falls in between with various shades of brown.

I had one for about 2 weeks on the sandbox... somehow it disappeared.
But all the PMs that I took so much time to delete, they all came back!

haha...that's kind of funny...you got back everything you didnt want and lost what you wanted to keep. maybe you could try again with loading a pic, now that they have sorted out some of the bugs?

Sometimes this thread does get extra "chatty" and I will go through 5 pages of chit chat at the end of the day.

I joined the yahoo marans groups and go there for the serious marans talk. And when I want to feel like I know absolutely NOTHING I go to The Classroom @ The Coop. But that message forum makes my brain hurt so I come back here where it is comfy. lol

But I must say this thread has one of the friendliest attitudes of all the BYC threads I follow. I have at times wanted to post on other threads "why can't you guys be like the marans thread??"

I often feel privileged that I get to see what the "cool kids" are talking about. lol

I do have a serious problem I have to really control myself around non chicken people or they will think I have totally lost my marbles. Everyone cracks up at me when I let a little bit of chicken talk slip and I laugh along knowing that I only let the little tiniest bit of chicken talk out of my brain. If they only KNEW!

But here...aaahhh I can discuss the minutia of chickens and no one thinks I am weird.
