Still thinking of ordering some egg. What if I ordered the Silvers, would I get further quicker, unless the egg color sucks. The silvers throw reg cuckoos too right? and my guess is there would be little to no gold showing since they are over flowing with silver

haha...I'm not sure what to tell you on whether the silvers will give you what you want or not. the 12 I ended up with from them were only the lighter and gray chicks, they didn't give me any of the cuckoo chicks that can hatch out of them, so that would be a gamble whether the cuckoos coming from them would be nice or not. The cuckoos I got came from their cuckoo pen, so

Or are you just looking for an excuse to get you some silvers? hehe

Black faces or the dark faces and combs in the Marans normally grows out and pink or red usually starts to show up around POL or just before, but can take quit a while to go completely away. I don't think that Gypsy or Mulberry is what we are seeing in the Marans. Isn' the Gypsy or Mulberry related to the black skinned birds such as Silkies and Sumatras and such?

Kim, I would suggest that anyone planning on culling Marans for the Mulberry face take a look at the other breed standards for Brown Red, Birchen, and Gray. even look at the ABA standards, The dark face is very much bred for in all the other breeds. Nothing worse than seeing these birds with red faces. I am referring mostly to Modern Games, Old English and Japs.

Good planning, I'm sure your dad will be glad for the extra hands to help him thru this next transition. How long will they keep him at thospital, and will he go to a rehab facility before coming home?

I don't know what's going on... he's been in the hospital and rehab for over a month already...and goes back to the hospital tomorrow for the surgery and there is talk of moving him back to the rehab place on monday or tuesday and from there I have no idea.

haha too funny. I bet he is busy right now. We were chatting back and forth about some of the other birds I have here and passin pics back and forth and haven't heard from him for a few days, so don't be surprised if he emails you back out of the blue lady!

Hey Don....question for you. You know how we were chatting on PM the other day and you mentioned the size and width of the head on birds when working to increase size. Can you tell me on this boy how you feel his head fits with his body? He's a beast and to me has a wide head, but am just trying to get a stronger picture in my mind of what you think is a good balance.

Don, maybe you can expand on your take on the dark faces as it applies to FBCM.
