Bump: I cheated yesterday and posted pics of two birds--want to make sure this one doesn't get missed.

I see nothing on this male color to worry about. If you have some female with the dark copper marking would be a good mating for this male. I really like the big chunky shape of this male. To be honest I really like this male all the way around. What do you females look like?

Hens~ Thanks. He is the one that has better type and is beefier, but he is also the one that has the uneven serration in his comb. Also has too light of eyes. I hesitate taking both of these Splash boys to auction next weekend, I would love to keep one but it's hard deciding which one.

Donna~ I am trying to get to an all Splash pen....that is what I will do with my Splashes, if I can ever get there.

SORRY FOR DOUBLE POSTS.....It's acting up again.

We have an all splash pen and we are currently working to make it two. One with red/copper one without. Can you explaing why the red/copper is so prevelant in the roosters and so uncommon in the hens? Something more than just it is sex linked.

mornin Debbi! Its warming up here for sure too! Got chores already done and back to work on show prep stuff before work tonight. No frying to death outside and then having to go to work. I'm just praying they have the freezer/cooler and air conditioning situation taken care of by now!

Snowbird, don't you think that color looks brassy, though? I think in one of the pics he is right next to one that has color that looks more correctly copper to me. His color is the lightest of all the ones I have.

When I dump water out it just SITS THERE! The ground is so hard and dry. There are 3 days in a row next week with only a 20% chance of rain.

That creek of ours is looking awful! Still got water but not much, just the deep spots. If it were not so hot I would go in the back and check that creek, if I can find it

that one is spring feed too, but it all drains into another spring and pours out to the front creek. Does that make sense?

We're hot and dry here, too....

I just put water into the feeder pond beside the creek b/c the tadpoles were running out of water! hehe my SO thinks I'm nuts!

FANTASTIC!!! I'll get them candled now that I have batteries for the candler! Its way too light out now, so tonight once I'm home and its dark out! I'll report what I find. So far I've found no stinkers in my periodic peek ins!

I'm hoping to candle the eggs that are under my two broodies tonight.

It's been SOOOO hot and I'm afraid a dud will explode all over my coop ..

Just came home with all the lumber, etc. for a new run!
