its about 65 which is where I usually leave it for them to hatch. Looks to be a big ol chick, so hope he's not stuck. I believe he is the only one hatching so far, so am thinking of opening up the hatcher later if he still is struggling to get out.Where is your humidity? It's so humid here this morning, they could hatch without the bator!

im giving them another hour or so to see if there is progress...its lively, so thats what makes me think its stuckYes, I will help them out, especially if they are looking like big chicks. My last batch had one I had to help, shell was stuck on it's back, and the back of it's head. It was screaming and kicking those big feet like crazy, but couldn't free itself.
Thanks lady. He was glued tight in the shell...I really had to peel him off the shell...so I'll see how the rest of the hatch goes. I did hear another chick peeping from inside another shell...so hopefully the rest go ok. During the large part of the hatch the outside humidity was between 70 and 80% and spiked the incubator several times, so I don't think this will be a normal hatch. I'm remembering why I really don't like summer hatches here!Hens~ Sooo sorry to hear that. Hugs!
Cad~ I like #1, do you have more photos of him?
Vicki~ I couldn't get the humidity up over 67 this time and the Birchens did ok, some of my copper eggs had a rough time with sticking, but they worked it out. I also noticed that they had some already dry fluff coming out of the zip of the egg and I thought they were totally dried in there but they were not. They were taking there time and the fluff dried in the mean time. All of my appendages crossed for you.
3riverschick~ THANK YOU and I used to breed Welsummers and I am sure this is not just shafting that we see in some Marans. This boy has more Welsummer characteristics than I can count, especially in his body type. He is a lovely bird but I know he just can't be full Marans. There was a Welsummer hen running in that flock of birds, so the possibility is greater than one would think.
Thanks again. Will still try to get photos of him.
Masked Rider~ I am not sure of how many folks breed the Colombian Marans but if you check with Bev Davis as someone mentioned before you should have a pretty good chance of finding someone. Also check the Marans Groups websites breeders lists. Good luck with your search, I believe they are pretty rare as I don't think many are working with them.
