On a side note I came up with an Idea for the trip to keep the eggs cool. I have an inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Im going to plug in a mini wine cooler to it. This way I can keep them at a steady 60 degrees.

Quote: Oddly, the incubator is usually less than the room RH! I don't know why. GOod luck.
yup.. the beginning of day 21 is monday morning, but if they end up following suit with the other hatches, they should start tomorrow. That is, if they are good. I know there are some with good development, but don't know how they will do with the proper absorbtion because of the extreme humidity over the hatch. I don't know what to say....other than I'm crossing my fingers like crazy!Mornin' all![]()
Another 100* day here again, but at least there is supposed to be storms heading in for the next few days. Never thought I would welcome thunder storms, but I sure will if they bring some much needed rain!
Vicki, sorry to hear of your stinker eggs(s). Hope the rest pull through for you! Aren't they due this weekend??

Have come to the conclusion that the 2 chicks that made it through the coci are not thriving, especially the pullet- she stands with her tail down yet and eyes closed most of the time...... DH and I have decided to cull them.
yeah, it isn't fun but not much else we can do at this point and we don't want them to be miserable.awww...thats too bad lady, but probably better in the long run.
Hate when that happens
Yeah it helps. I wasnt planning on hatching anymore eggs this year but the Marans bug has caught me. Right now the ones I have are 3 months old and I have culled a lot. So that being said I dont have that many. Some of those I dont think I will use. So I decided to get more so they are the oldest I could get them by next spring. Then I can use all my birds to replenish the culls I make. I think my best option is to put them in my basement again for a couple of weeks until the heat passes if its still hot. It will be a month yet anyway. My Wife does NOT like me having the chickens In the house though. Thats if the even hatch. Checked the humidity in the house and it was 40% so if I do this I wont be adding any water. I think if the moisture drops I will just spritz the eggs down once a day. This would only be my 3rd hatch. 2nd time with Marans eggs. The first time I tried none hatched. They were shipped eggs from MPC. Whats weird was all but 2 of my eggs hatched. So I will try again.
