Well got back from timbuktu and have 2 doz eggs in tow. They go in the bator tomorrow. The wine cooler worked like a charm. I knew something told me to take it as my air conditioning went out on my brand new car!

Well Rod's being super about it and he'll ship eggs to me again when things cool down a bit for the cost of the shipping. I can't even tell you how much of a relief it is to know I can try again here in a couple of months if the weather behaves

I'm not sure, but I think the little birchen scamp might make it....the little one is sure an ugly mess right now with bit of dried goop stuck all over from having trouble hatching. If they make it overnight when I get home from work tomorrow afternoon I'll work on cleaning them up a bit. I don't have the heart to disturb the little one since they've been through so much already.

Wait - did you get two? I'm so glad!

I found the sticky stuff tends to dry up after a day or two and you can sort of crush/pick it off easily.

I tried bathing, but that seemed to make things worse

I also find the other chicks pick it off.... but it is just the one, so it is up to Vicki

well...no more baby chick. Looks to have not developed right internally as I just checked on him a couple minutes ago and looks like he hemorraged out. Never had a chick do that before. This has been a truly bumming experience. I will try again, not to worry, but I do get affected when there is a bad hatch.

thanks lady. I just get so excited to greet the little ones...even after all these years of raising birds. Its strange to not have any little peeping or chirping going on.
