I'm taking 8 birds to a show next month, just so I can get the input of a judge. It will be very interesting to read the comment cards. I'm just trying to figure out a few things on my own ahead of time.

There are a lot of smart and helpful people on this thread, I'm still learning, Iv'e got a long way to go as well. Good luck thoughI'm taking 8 birds to a show next month, just so I can get the input of a judge. It will be very interesting to read the comment cards. Be sure to make time to ask the judge personally about the birds. Let the judge know you would like his input and ask would there be a convenient time. They are often very busy. Very little is put on the cards that I have seen. ALso, consider bringing a notebook unless you have a great verbal memory! I don't show. I can't get over the old univeristy rules: if it leaves the farm, it doesn't come back into the population. So I haven't mustered up the courage to risk my birds. I have shown dogs, and talked to judges; and I have gone to the show in Oxford, MA two times. You have inspired me though!I see you're from Mass. Other than Goshen (CT) Labor Day weekend I'll be at the Congress in January. Do you go there?
well...sounds like we have a nice size fire going here in north central Nebraska. I hope they get it under control soon. Forecast says 105 today, who knows what the heat index will be. I haven't lost any birds yet, but have a hen acting kind of funny. Gave her some electrolytes and heading out with some cut up watermelon and do another round of water changing and putting frozen water bottles in the pans. I sure hope everyone makes it.
This BC male is squirrel tail and would not breed or try showing him. Would like to see a picture of the female with the Copper neck showing her Comb more clearly.
Hi All, I'm looking for some input. The same cockerel in the the first two photos- his backend was up-wind so his tailfeathers are held way high. I am looking more for color/marking input- he is 4 months old. Same with the pullet, 4 months old, I have some pullets with more copper and some with less. Thanks for all your input.
I will just say he has a lot more than wind going on with his tail. To get honest critiques you must be willing to accept what is said.He had wind blowing up his backend, blowing the feathers every which way.
