This was discussed quite awhile back, and if I recall correctly, brown breasted reds are different genotype from black coppers. I think Don was the one who was discussing it.

We went over this year or so ago. The Brown Red in the SOP APA and the Black copper are genetically different as the Mahogany genes pops into the equasion. The person that was working with the Dark egg thread done a complete workup showing the difference in the two genetically. This is the reason they went into the Sop as Black Copper. They would be Black Breasted not Brown Breasted.

Hey DMRippy, there is a lady in Ellijay, GA who is really really wantin some EE pullets. She has posted it on "Wanted" on BYC. If you can't find it, let me know. I think I can find her. She lives close to me. How old are your EE, Olive Eggers. I may be interested in a few, too.

I was wondering because why would Van Dort/Hancox have put Brown Red in their book and then ...added Black Copper Neck , stating this color was specifically for Marans if they were both the same color. Now I see the difference, thankl!

Sold out in the 1st edition hardback. Now reissued by Van Dort in Europe in small 50 copy editions as requests from folk come in to her. Originally 110.USD, Now available for about 92.00.USD without shipping from Van Dort. She has a new book out , sold thru the Serama Council Of North America called "Genetics Of Chicken Extremities". Covers everything but colour genetics.

Hi Karen,
The softcovers are printed in January since hard cover is too expensive
after the first run was sold out after 2 years. Printing prices raised a
lot therefore there are printed small runs of 50 books a time digitally.
The book is 75 euros, mail costs to the US of two copies 16,15 euro and
the protecting special carton wrap is 2 euros.

Not sure where those feathered shanks actually came from - daddy is clean legged, mom is "sparse" at best but this little guy actually has feathers on his middle toe! And enough confidence for 10 birds.

Not entirely sure how this math is working or what it's working on but I paid about $100 Canadian for my copy of Sigrid's Colour book a few months ago. I don't think the US dollar has really fallen that fall much into the crapper since then .....

(I'm actually reading that you are getting 2 copies for that $200 which makes absolute sense to me .... Sigrid wants 75 Euros per copy plus shipping .... )

XE currency calculator is very highly regarded in the industry. Right now the books are about 91.50 each plus shipping. or 204.(plus change) for 2 with shipping.
In any case, the book is well worth it. Perhaps it costs a bit less then mine because the new one is a softcover?
