You need to find that camera!

I have a pullet trying to be broody......she lets me take her eggs away so she's only been laying since August and just now started the laying everyday...she's still laying but on all the other eggs the hens lay with hers...who knows if she'll really be broody as she doesn't give the stink eye when I take them all away from her...

of you love me . . . .
does that mean the rest of you don't do any special packaging of your hatching eggs.

How do you track which chick came from which egg ? ? Or do you only hatch one hen's eggs at a time ? ?

Math Ace,

Being as I have only three hatches under my belt, it's been one clutch at a time. Now, in the future, I think I may stagger any multiple hatches so I know who is from which hen. So far, the majority of my eggs have hatched on days 20 and 21. So I'm thinking if I put in three different sets of eggs, I would add them five days apart, just to be on the safe side. I also now have two incubators, so I use one to dry them off as soon as they hatch. That said, it may get more complicated once I actually do start multiple hatches, but so far, that's my plan.

Hello, Hello, Hello Lisa,
Yes I am getting this. I am lurking & learning as I said I would. I will have Cari (my daughter) try again with new pictures. Or, maybe I will even try myself...........LOL
Thanks so much

I was going to stagger these, but I didn't know if the 70% humidity boost during days 18 - 21 would hurt the younger eggs at days 13 - 16 . . . .

DOH!! You are right! Wouldn't want to drown the younger eggs! So, I will do lockdown and dry in the second bator!

I am lurking & learning but my head is full of sooooooooo much information sometimes it is spinning....LOL I am not as young as I once was..Maybe I am not as quick on the uptake as I used to be, but I hope to give the BCM a good try. I will try to get better & closer pictures & get them posted.
I am in the middle of building many mini holding pens to put the roosters up for the winter so all the girlies can run together. Alot more work than I am used to for many years now & trying to recycle & still be decent makes it even harder but I will keep at it til I drop........which may be soon......LOL
