Is it best to incubate shipped eggs or put them under a broody hen??

I would always vote for the broody, if you have one, as your best bet, shipped eggs or not....

I would. They still went through shipping stress regardless of how you incubate them after you get them.

hey people great photos! Glad i found this thread. i recently bought a black copper maran rooster in early febuary and he looks like hes going to have show bird qualitys is this breed suppose to have feathered feet and if so how long until feet feathering gos away or reduces in quanity? i have some more questions about this breed if this is the place to ask

They are supposed to have feathering on their legs, it doesn't go away.

ah ok cool some of the pics of the roosters i seen had very little feathering. more questions haha funny 1 mine eats alot and when not eating is looking for food or thinking of food, normal? is this breeds roosters aggresive he looks like hes going to be huge and dont wanna have any kids or adults getting flogged. are they aggressive to other roosters hes got an americauna rooster friend to help watch there ladies and even tho politely said and no hard feelings id want the maran to put are mean i meen MEAN frizzle bantam rooster in his place. Are the roosters good flock protecters thats my main goal with him other than olive eggs, he seems to be very alert i seen him cocking his head at anything loud and flying. very vocal and a awesome chicken vocab. thanks for any info available my favorite breed next to americauna so far!!

Hey there,
Was wondering when the earliest is that you all who show these BCMs can pick out which of the cockerels to keep

Is white around the eye and wingtip white only more ideal than solid black? Sparse leg feathering right?
I bought several that were told they were of the bev Davis and wade jean line, separate breeders.
Someone told me this white tip wing is classic of wade jean maybe?

What about copper already starting to show on the neck ?

Do u raise them up to eat the culls or attempt to sell the cockerels? No one usually wants any around here unless they are free or show winners....

Any advice is appreciated!!

I eat them. You can't hardly even give roosters away for free around here.

Same here. I hate that though because by the time u feed them from chicks from the time u butcher them,you are spending more money (and space) on them, where I wonder how much more expensive it becomes vs your $2/lb chicken?

I wish I had sold them before I could sex them.

Well, they cost more but it's better than buying factory chicken from the grocery store.
