Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I'm getting very excited! I ordered some BCM eggs on ebay a while back and they're due to arrive today! So supposedly, they are a line that includes a combo of Wade, Davis, Lil Peddler, and another line. I know you can't trust what people say but I'm very anxious to see them (they look VERY dark). Will post pics later. Hopefully they hatch!

I just picked up my eggs!

the two on the far left are from my Marans hen. Not dark at all. The one on the right in the front is from my Brahma/Marans cross. The rest are the eggs I just picked up. I'm excited and hopefully, they hatch.

I am a brand new Marans owner (Golden Cuckoo, Fire Salmon, and Golden Salmon) .. and just love these gals! I did not buy any of my chickens to show or breed. I love them because they are unique, beautiful, and lay the most gorgeous eggs I've ever seen. That's plenty reason for this rewarding investment. I look forward to all 6 of my hens to start laying. I love reading all the posts and I'm very happy there is such a forum!

I have had good luck getting eggs on ebay. I also just ordered some blue maran eggs and they are in the incubator as we speak. I also got my Crested Cream Legbars on ebay and were a great buy! My hens are perfect and will be laying soon, but only 1 rooster worth keeping. Good luck on your hatch.

Just fired up my 'bator for the first time this year after installing a fan kit in it (LG) Gonna start collecting eggs from my girls, will be concentrating on Marans, blue and black copper, I only have one black copper hen, and 3 blues, (one splash who isn't laying yet) not sure how many eggs I'll be able to get in one week....we will see...
