Interesting. Any that I had in the past that had the white wing or tail feathers also had the white under the hackles as well. They are long gone from my flock, but I'd always just assumed they were all in the same vein as far as where it came from. Good to know they are not.

Wynette,

When you say white feathers, are you talking juvie feathers or adults? My three pullets had lots of white juvie feathers, but now at 18 weeks, they are all black, no white fluff or feathers, and lots of beetle green.

Interesting. The only one here with an off colored fluff, more of a gray than white, is Fuglee from the first clutch. He also has the best coloring of anything here!

My new English Splash roo...

He lays long dark ones....

Do you think his comb is too big??

Well lets see... He has less copper in the hackle than I would like to see... though his topline is level it is a little long and he would need to be crossed with one with a slighty less of a tail angle. There appears to be nice strong legs thought twice what is desired. Good eye color and a nice large comb... I woud strive to make a few improvements on the next generation... I am at a loss as to what kind of female would improve this...It looks a little large for the stewpot!!! PS.. PHUNNY AS HECK!!

I thought we could use a little humor today.

Hope no one was offended...

I'm wondering if he has brown fluff under his vent?

And of course he has too much white showing through....

Any light humor is deeply appreciated by me.... So far the day has started and nothing is dead... I say that is a good start.

Does any out there know how to spot the weak or slipped wing with out opening the wing while bird is standing in cage or whatever. Walt, you are excluded from this one. Don

Yep, isn't that where the primaries over-lap in reverse? The primaries are held outside the secondaries and it is visible with out opening the wing. It's genetic and a disqualification isn't it?

edited because I had an after thought.....

I only answered the question in part. I should have explained what it should look like.....the primaries actually fold out away from the body instead of in. They kinda look like they (the primaries) are pointing out and you can see that they are actually over- lapped in reverse.

That'll teach me to have an after thought because it was a 15 minute trek back up to the house just to edit.
