Well I am not sure how they will hold up in AK. I have not had them before but I do have 4 chickens right now one being a bantam. The 4 are all muts Road Island Red mix and have been doing just fine this summer. I was a little concerned about the winter to so when i built my chicken coop I made it insulated and will be putting a heater set up on in a little bit so that I can keep the temp and 40* all winter. I was reading in some books mainly "Raising Chickens for Dummies" and a few others that say if you keep the temp at 40* they will lay all year round. I will be keeping a close eye on there combs but am thinking with a worm place to get out of the cold they should be fine.
