Sounds pretty. We have a few deer from time to time in the woods behind the chicken coops here. When we lived about an hour or so drive outside of Yellowstone Park in WY, the antelope would hide out on the slope behind our house when we first moved in. After awhile, they spooked and moved on but they were sure interesting to look at. I loved it there we used to see grizzlies and moose on a regular basis. I used to keep a bunch of potted plants in the windows and the deer would come up and lick the windows trying to get at them during the winter when everything else was covered with snow lol.

Math ace, I completly agree with you about the Ohio nationals and the quality of the marans there. However I shouldn't be complaining because I didn't bring any of mine ( not saying there the most perfect representation) the DH and I didn't know we'd be going till it
was to late to enter birds.

But I only saw one there that I felt was the closest on representing the breed and it was a wheaten. I talked to someone there who had entered their marans, and they were from hatchery stock, and you could tell

i wish more marans were entered and of good quality, it's unfortunate that the birds of these breeds people saw weren't from the better stock.

OH!! I don't envy you that! I lived in So. CA. for 10 years and NEVER did get used to them!! So I move to Missouri...with the big New Madrid fault!

In the 21 years I've been here, I've only felt two tremors...so far

If I want to feel the ground move..well, I'd better be having fun!

We live in WA now but hubby and I were born and raised in Southern California. He can actually predict earthquakes by the weather. It's that balmy breezy damp weather. He just said yesterday that it's earthquake weather and look! an earthquake.

It was a 3.5 and the epicenter was located some 60 miles from my house. It didn't stop the egg song singers though.....the Marans coop is singing right now and so is the Welsummer coop. Go girls, not even a little earthquake rattles their cages. Puns fully intended.

Hmm, maybe if we had a little rattle here, mine would shake loose with an egg!

Guess I'm off to build and beef-up my el cheapo mini coop. The hardware and instructions finally made it here! This ought to be fun...NOT!
