The tail thing seems to work, but not always. With my last chicks I had two that their tails took much longer to develop. They all turned out to be girls.

If I have a few roos I'm fine with that as this is the beginnings of my breeding program for the wheatens. I'm also getting eggs from Buddy Henry

Two chicks are out now, and one more has pipped. The second chick hatched from one of the eggs I took out of the refrigerator! I know it had been in there at least a week!
edit to say , out of the 40 or 50 i hatched over summer , i could only feather sex them (feather color) combs and size of feet never worked for me personaly one hen i have has huge comb compaiored ....and one hen feet are big !2 front look like roo back left hen back right is up for grabs , thanks for posting
