Trust me, I will be crossing him over a splash, blue and a black. I've had my eye on this little guy since he came out of the egg. This boy came from a very nice egg and I am in love with his comb. Bill throws very nice combs, eye color and size in his offspring and the fact that he has feathered shanks is the bomb!

Please, take a picture of a good looking marans toes.
My marans have a long middle toe . . . I think yours do too. But I want to see HOW long your middle toes are.

There was some talk about someone with a marans that had a short ( I don't remember if it was the middle toe) toe.
Is this a DQ or fault?

If anyone has some good pictures of the toes, try to post them today. I feeling a foot fetish coming on today!

Thanks

I have to give credits to his overall shape.... Nice length of back and general shape... Very marans typey. I simply meant that if you cross him on either splash or black..the outcome will tell you for certain... Everyone said my hen was blue... She was splash... the outcome told me what she was...

Pink, that blue hen that I have that is white shanked, where do you think that came from? Could she have been crossed with a cuckoo?

I have Gherke girls with really small feet...not just short toes but little feet...

Picture Rotti.... Not enough melaniser

I really can't answer this because I am uncertain......I'm just educating myself on leg colors, we should shout out for VILLAGECHICKEN, he has a great grasp on leg colors and effects. Don or geebs probably know too, lets see what they and others may have to say.

Ok so I have a question.... I have a mixed flock of girls all running together, They are silky and BCMs roos as well as hens togther. I know this is not kosher for showing birds but for the BCMs, I know that the BCM roos are doing their job but is it still going to yield a good looking strain of chicks if I hatch them out?

Will have to get adult or older bird toe photos for ya later today if time permits or Sunday. Grabbed these chicks because they are within arms reach.
Normally all of my babies and birds have nice long toes, but the outer toes should not be as long as the middle. That said I got a baby this time around from Chloe a blue copper Davis pullet and Gnarles my Davis boy that has very short outer toes and very heavily feathered with feather stubs on the very end of the middle toe. This is the first for me with stubs on the middle toe.
They hatched on 1/1.
This is the Davis baby. Included a photo of their wings too and I am guessing gender by the length of the primaries and secondaries. I think this is a pullet. We will see.

This is a Bill baby, nice long toes. I also believe this is a boy, wing photo, I'm guessing by the shorter secondaries. Again we will see.
