These are a few of the marans chicks (ages 2 months - 3 1/2 months) that I have. Black Coppers and Blue Coppers. A couple are starting to get really nice coppering around the hackle area. Most of the pullets have little or no copper yet. My oldest cockeral pictured here is getting beautiful color but has very little leg feathering. He came from a local breeder along with 3 others. I have 8 blacks and blues that came from a gentleman who hatched them from really dark eggs. I was buying muscovies from him and he asked if I knew of anyone that would be interested in them :D. I took the whole lot for an amazing price!!! I don't want them so much for breeding but for the dark eggs (and to eventually have olive eggers).

One of my blue copper pullets who managed to break her wing this morning. I have no clue how!!! The chicks are all in a chicken tractor and there were no signs of anything trying to get in. The underside of her wing was bloody but it appeared to be from the others pecking at it. I think its broke from the shoulder itself as she has no movement with it at all. I cut a sleeve from one of my shirts and slipped it over her to immobilize both wings after bluecoting the underside of the injured wing to prevent infection. It's all I could come up with in a pinch . . . I don't know if she will regain mobility or not but I really don't want to cull her. She may not survive the shock but if she does, she can still be a good pet.

Hi everyone,I've been calling my hen a Cuckoo Marans, which is what she was sold to me as. Not an expert on the breed but could this girl be a Cuckoo Marans?

If it is a marans, it is not good quality.  My guess is a barnyard mix with a marans involved somewhere along the line.
Black sex links maybe made w
