The Golden Coocoo marans roosters can look really pretty though. Don't you think?

there is a thread for cuckoo Marans. goldens are a cross but I thought it was with wheatens? cuckoo's are a work in progress. no standards finalizes yet....I don't think. the cuckoo's failed at a show recently so they're no longer next to go before the APA for approval.

cuckoo's don't lay the dark dark eggsvlike coppers can. I find mine to lay better and bigger eggs. egg color in mine is improving. feathered legs and egg color are the 2 hard things to find. they need work in type and coloring too. I think they probably have several more years to go before we see many nice cuckoo's.

thinking about getting a golden coo coo maran. Any comments on this breed?

I love my golden cuckoo marans. Mine are still in the project stage, but I'm happy with them so far. This is one of my 2013 pullets who just started to lay.

I have a 12 week old that looks a lot like the chooks in the pics you have posted here. Do marans have feathers on their feet, though? I can't get a decent pic as she runs off at the sight of me.

yea, mine lay bigger and more eggs but they are light brown with dark brown speckles..

This is lovely. I hope the cuckoo pattern comes in stronger. I happen to love really good barring in a bird, not a man.

All French Marans should have feathered shanks and outer toe
