that is good information to know I guess I will cull them then don't want anything that is not good could they be golden salmon marans then? I guess it shows you how much I know I will take pictures later and seek opinions

Extremely unlikely that they are salmons. Salmons are only in the hands of a very few show breeders, and to my knowledge, nobody is selling any yet. They are trying to get them well enough established (breed true to type and up in numbers), before any will be sold.

3 marans eggs hatched. 2 are solid white chicks. Are they wheaton or cuckoo? Will try to post pics later

i have no idea...please tell me more. The 2 eggs that were white chicks were marked as a blue and a cuckoo. They look exactly alike

I don't think ALL white Marans are recessive. Mine cropped up in my BCM flock. They have slate legs, which is not to white Marans standard (it's a DQ). As I understand it, recessive white is the best kind of white to breed into white Marans though.

Hold old are they? Could be a splash from the blue also. They will get the splashing as they feather in.

Wait until the feathering comes in. If pure snow white, they are rec. white. If flecked with gray, it's a splash. If tannish, wheaten (pullet).

Many people, sadly, throw those two breeders' names about like brand names. Once birds are sold and the buyer makes the breeding decisions, birds are no longer "so-and-so's lines." This is one huge pet peeve for me, along with "marans" and Maran. It is always capitalized and plural, as it is a place name in France. It would be like saying new orleans or New Orlean. We don't know until we know, so now you know!
