Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I'm thinking (hoping) that post wasn't directed at you. There are some people out there who raise and sell Marans (and many other breeds for that matter) that know very little about them but claim to and this (unlike what you did) is wrong. I can't count the number of instances I've heard of where someone was sold ans "Amerakinda" - foe Ameracauna ie Easter Egger.

Sometimes I have to sit on my hands to avoid an argument.

On a Facebook poultry group, a lady had pics of what were clearly Easter Eggers. She was selling them as Americanas (or however she spelled it wrong), and said you can tell they're true americanas because they have beards. Only the true ones have beards.

I have no problem with people that breed out side SOP guidlines, but so many people are selling birds that are not what they say they are.

I have to ask: Whats up with those purple coops?
Is that this years "skinny legged jeans" coop color?
Im old school
I am the builder, but my wife has artistic design

My Marans boys would spur me if I painted their coop purple.
My wife's silkies wouldnt mind though
You should see the silkie coop, seafoam green with bubblegum pink shutters

There is also a yellow one, barn red, and a beige and sage green duplex...
One of my customers said it looks like Miami Beach

edit: She enjoys it as much as I do, so it's turned into a great way for us to have fun together. I can handle a few pastels for that
