Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

REALLY>>>> I thought it was a joke... ha ha... Wow... I don't know how I got a GF member thing going on... It just showed up one day.

So geebs, you think she's a she?? Let's hope, although, at some point I will be needing a good roo! One of the older clutch that I initially suspected of being a roo, who now looks like a larger female, was caught doing the chest bump thing with Fuglee Roo this morning. Do pullets chest bump with roos, or is it most likely a roo afterall? Her? comb is nowhere near the size of Fuglee's, and in fact looks like the other two that I hope are pullets. Fuglee is starting to show hackle color and some on his saddle area, this one is not. What say you?

Females do fight for status like roosters...

The chick could still be a male, however, the coloring for female is more like this.... Not a solid rule but the potential is better for a pullet... I never decide for sure till there is saddle color either direction... Some of the lines are so new that it is impossible to differentiate.. At the outset.. it looks like a little girl...

Yes, I've seen two hens/pullets tossle for status, but this is a supposed pullet bumping with a definate roo. This pullet? was the largest one of the four, and came out of the shell with a much larger comb than everyone else. At the time, I thought it looked roo-ish. Now, to me, she looks like a big girl, but acts more like a roo. Guess time will tell

Ok, I will stop lurking and start trying to be a productive member. Here are some birds to judge...... 4mo. old cockerel.

Pinkchick ... I see BC.... A NNNNNICE big pullet... SWEEET. Keep us posted...

Go ahead and tp my house now!!! he he

I see black copper also and most likely female - but then, I didn't read any of the past posts about this chick - is it supposed to be blue - cause I don't see it. My blues (in all my breeds) are blue from hatch, some dark blue some light blue/grey but blue.

I posted some pictures of my rooster a couple of pages back that I would like some feedback on please, I think he got lost in conversation! I was thinking about showing him but idk anything about it.
