Okay, here's what I see.
#1 - tail angle much too high, comb has too many points, lack of shank featheirng. I personally like his coloring, and he has good eye color. He appears to be tall, hopefully he'll fill out more.

#2 - tail angle is better, although it looks a bit short, but again, it's too early to make a determination in that rea. comb has too many points, lack of shank feathering. He has good eye color. He looks the most balanced overall of the 3 to me, but it's very early to tell that. His size appears to be good - he actually looks a bit more filled out to me that #1 (?)

#3 - This guy has the best tail IMO, and he's fairly balanced. His shank feathering is fine. Can't really see his comb that well, eye appears to be good but it's difficult to see in this pic. I like his coloring.

Overall, if these were mine and I absolutely had to make a choice based on these pics, I'd keep #3.

Oh - just looked at your 4-month old - I like him better than the other 3 younger ones. I personally prefer his coloring, and he has a super nice, broad chest (which we can't tell from the 3 younger boys) - his shank feathering is okay, not optimum, but decent, and I think he has 5 points in his comb, and good eye color. His tail may be just a hair high, but that could be because he raised it due to shyness of getting his pic taken or something.

The pullets...I would personally not use. They have too much hackle color for my personal liking, and too much of it. Again, just me, though. Thanks for posting pics!!!

Wynette, If you are referring to the pullets in post # 316, I wish all of my Black Copper were colored in the Hackle this way, sure would save me a lot of head ache trying to get them that way. Only my opinion but think the Hackle is great. Don

And that's what I'm talking about....everyone has a different opinion and preference. Therefore, the more input and feedback the better!

Here are some pictures of my very first FBCMs that I hatched out earlier this year. I know they aren’t perfect but honest opinions (no matter how bad) are welcome.

First off is my cockerel, I know he has to many points on his comb… but I am not sure how many of them count. He does have lightly feathered legs and his tail was used as a beak cleaner by one of my silkie cockerels (he has been rehomed). He hatched out from shipped eggs (bought on ebay) on 3/28/10 and is supposed to be from Wade Jeane lines. What do you think of him? He is a nice boy and is in my laying pen with 21 girls… he gets around though. Every egg I have opened has been fertile. I have 22 eggs in the bator now with 13 of them my EE eggs to make the first generation OE ( I checked 5 of them the other day at day 6 and they are all growing!).

This is a pullet I hatched out on 3/28/10 – from the same shipped egg batch as the cockerel, Wade Jeane lines. She has thicker leg feathering and seems to be a nice little girl…. Should be getting ready to lay soon! They were out free ranging and went into the grow out pen for a snack.

The last pullet from that same hatch (only hatched 3 successfully) is the one in the back in both pictures. She didn’t want to give me any good photo ops. She has very sparse leg feathering (almost non-existent), taller than the other two pullets, and is very cow hocked (not sure what you call it in chickens).

The last pullet hatched out on 2-27-10 from shipped eggs and is from Wade Jeane/Ron Presley lines. She is a nice girl and has leg feathering. She has been laying for 3 weeks now and lays a nice egg around 5-6 on the scale from what I can tell. She was hanging out in the horse pen playing in the mud.

It's time to move my 2 week olds to the outdoor brooder!

Man these BCM babies are growing so fast, much faster than my other stock.

They have completely out grown the indoor brooder in just a meager 2 weeks! All my other chicks I have been able to keep them inside for 3-4 weeks!

I decided it was time to get the outdoor brooder ready when I woke up to a peeping baby next to my bed this morning!

He got out of the brooder walked out of the kitchen, through the living room and all the way down the hall into my bedroom!

So I put the screen over the top of the brooder since I won't have the time to move them until Saturday morning!

Snowbird... She was referencing the pictures in the blue type... I agree with you about post 316 but that isn't the ones she was referencing.

Good morning ya all... Ya left me talking to myself yesterday!!! My bad for stepping out... Horse empaled self on a t-post (not my horse...so that's good)

Chicken Dish: Cream of Rooster soup!!! Stew him a long while.. salt, cayenne, pepper.... Celery, onion, garlic, bullion and after a couple hours add new potatoes or yukon golds and then bring to a simmer and add heavy cream.... Yum.. Some of you may choose to thicken it w/flour...or leave it that way.. Oh and I would throw in some Savory during the stewing process... man this is making me want to murder my good rooster... I better let my daughter feed this morning.

Karrie13 Nice looking birds.. The breeder you got them from is on task... that is a nice group... It must be an older breeder because the birds, both male and female a really good examples overall. Keep us posted on the hatch.

Geebs, don't leave me hanging what was the number of the pullets she was referring too. Don't see any other pullets from person in question. Don
