That is the reason I was looking for some one that get a majority of Spherical eggs. It is really hard to tell very much with just one egg. I am satisfied with my Black Copper as long as the eggs are a #6, I am mainly interested with the overall type. I have culled down to a little over 200 Black Copper and will cull a few males later. The culling is really hard for me as I dislike that part, but it has to be done. I also do not keep an egg laying flock for table eggs to sell. I can not buy the feed for what I can get out of the eggs.

Well, actually it was 6 sphereical eggs, it was the very biggest one that was the lightest in color. Even so, 6 is not a big enough number to determine if that is a true therory or not, just an observation. None of the spheres were any darker than the normally shaped eggs. I can't imagine culling 200+ birds, wow! Not a pleasant job by any stretch!

I don't know how "correct" he is but this is my FBCM who I hatched on May 28 2010. His two clutch sisters should start laying soon? I can hardly wait to see...

Debbi, You qualify in my book! Mine was in the mid 1990's where I worked. I had to go out and add some chemicals to a tank that was up on the 2nd floor of a platform that was all metal, ( metal floor, stairs and hand rails). I kept putting it off as the storm was bad, but finally had to add the chemicals to this batch. A fellow worker said he would go out to the warehouse and watch me go up there with the additives. I started up the metal stairs carrying the box, when lightining struck the structure. I remember seeing a huge white ball of light. And like you said time stood still. I was knocked off my feet and could not hear well. All my hair was also standing straight up.
I felt weird for a couple of days. The fellow worker who was in a doorway about 50 - 100 feet away said he could see me then the lightning appearred to hit the structure I was on then he could no longer see me. He came out and found me on the floor of the metal structure.

I have had a couple of unusal health things over the years and one time a rather astute Doctor asked me if I had ever been hit by lightning, as he had never seen my symptoms, but had once read of them related to lightning victims. Ever since then I am afraid to go out in storms or especially right at the beginning of weird weather. Loud thunder reanders me a total wreck....LOL

Pretty roo maybe too dark but I like him and he's not finished coloring or filling out I don't think you'll have eggs until Oct/November do you plan on using lights? I'm waiting on one of mine hatched April 23rd I'm using lights they are set up so I'm using them on some and some are natural I'll see if it makes much difference as these are all first year layers. I use lights on my horses keeps their hair coat shorter for winter riding so easier for me....
