I believe you are refering to a young bird with a white feather tip. If it is a young bird 99 % chance it will molt out. The White feather I am talking about is the White wing and tail feather that is white.

Be kind, I'm new as well as living abroad

i'm very interested in all your lovely Marans. I have acouple of Cuckoo Marans hens and a lovely cuckoo marans cockerel. Here in the Uk we tend to have Marans without feathering on their legs - French marans do have feathered legs

I'll try an up load some pictures if you're interested??

Welcome to the Marans thread new Marans lovers!


Hi guys and gals, been very busy lately but just had to pop in and say hello and show a few eggs that I got yesterday. These are from my Blue Coppers, not as dark as I was expecting from a couple of them but they will do for now. Don't know if I am really happy with them.

Sorry they are a little dirty.....been raining like crazy over here. I think from Sunday to Monday our rainfall total was something near 4" in 24 hours. Gotta love the PNW!!!!!!!!!!!
Only the first 4 eggs on the left are Marans, and if anyone is wondering the couple of darker eggs to the right of the photo that you can see are from my Barred Rock x Marans hen.
