Rusty, before I scrolled down to see other folks' comments, I looked at your boy several times and kept wondering why in the world you would cull him. I thought maybe I was missing something...then, scrolled down, and see others think he's a keeper also! I think he's VERY nice!

I love how dark his saddle feathers are. I'm in a phase where I'm scrutinizing combs, and his comb's not perfect, but then, I've seen very few perfect combs, and it's such a small deduction, I would not choose against that. He "appears" to have good size from the pic!

I've got a 9 mo. old FBCM that has gone broody. Anyone else have Marans that go broody?

I'm about to move her and put some eggs under her.

I had 2 cuckoo marans that went broody at the same time!

thats the best way to hatch , in my little experance i had one great looking budy henery wheaten go broody but she was young and i doidnt have eggs good enough to give her as for my silkies they go broody all the time for going on 3 years

Berkleysprings, I give up . It doesn't make any difference what this Genetics expert says, it is what the clubs all have in their standard. Everyone should just raise what they are willing to feed and just forget what we all say is correct. Enjoy your Marans.
