OK folks ... here are the pictures of the baby chick marans I've hatched. And since the seller has outed hersef, I'll give her full credit! The eggs are from quailladyoffortmyers and as I mentioned before, I actually didn't think any of them, or maybe 2-3, were going to hatch but at my daughter's insistence we continued with them in the incubator, with me sure they were going to explode any hour. We were shipped 15 eggs, 2 were cracked or crunched in shipping (even though packed well ... Bambam from the flintstones must have handled these at the post office). At 5 days I candled them (man they are hard hard hard to see) and didn't see much going on. At 10 days I candled them and 3 were obviously clear and I culled and the others were also not progressing in my book. My daughter insisted (thankfully) that we continue. I contacted the seller to ask about fertility (hahaha laughs on me now!). She gave me more info on her program and generously offered to send our 4H club more eggs. I accepted her offer and sent her some additional funds and when the next batch arrived (in perfect condition) I set those in the second incubator.
Time came and went ... and well those first little chickies started hatching and my nearly 16 yr old daughter had the pleasure of saying "see momma, you never know". And as a reminder, the breeder has silver cuckoo, golden cuckoo, and black copper marans and each color is kept in a separate pen with a about 4-5 hens per rooster.
What I am looking for, in addition to sharing the success, is info on what your guess is as to which variation and sex if we can tell. How do you sex each of these color variations and at what age?
The first one was the mystery chick we posted before.

#2 ... the first with feathered feet!

#4 ... and I'm not sure if this will show up, but this one looks a different base color, almost a blue, is that possible?

#9 isn't dry yet, and is the 2nd one to have feathered legs!
#10 ... well it will be helped from the egg today to see if we can save it or if it just isn't going to hatch.
