Of course as you know, I am totally biased here

but I love him! Can't wait to see him all filled out and grown up!

I love him too! It makes me sad that he is locked up in a coop now! I loved having him loose in the pasture. He is much safer in the pen though!

Not to be disagreeable but I don't think you can tell on the majority of the BC 3 mo. old males if they are going to be high tail or whatever. At three mo. mine are kinda low in the tail carriage,

I've been meaning to post this pic of Agent Orange a FBCM. He is a good example of extremely too much copper LOL. Here ya go snowbird it's your birthday have at it (just kidding) LOL!
Even his shanks are black and orange tiger striped

Too bad he came from about a #8 egg that I bought.

Are Maran roos late to crow? I have a maran cockrel whose hitting 6 months old. Helathy, tall, in a tractor with 1 pullet. We've got 5 bantam roos of various breeds so he hears crowing regularly but he's never even burbled an attampted crow.

They look very similar until they start to get their feathering. The birchen's will have silver and the black coppers will be copper.

That's NOT what I wanted to hear

I'm new to this thread and are particularly fond of wheaten marans. I just set in the bator these gorgeous eggs from Beth & Dave. I'm hoping to start a breeding program with them. I really love the coloring on the birds but will need some big-time help along the way. So happy we have this thread.

Personally I've never been a big fan of the BCM ( I know start throwing tomatoes now!!) HOWEVER I am the new proud mom of 4 newly hatched Wynette babies. Pardon their dust, still fluffing out! Oh Man they are so incredibly fat and darling. Twice the size almost of what I got in the mail. These are keepers, at least the pullets will be. I got one more zipping and 2 more that haven't pipped...must be taking a coffee break

WOW Cherly! You have some very nice looking wheatie eggs and some real good looking chicks. Congrates. Hopefully the wheaton hatch comes through for you. Keep us posted. Where abouts is Lafayette?

Thanks I'm really jazzed about hatching them...Beth and Dave are the very nicest folks, too

Lafayette is a small town about 20 miles north east of san francisco

Another one bites the dust.........................

I have been noticing some major changes going on in my favorite little cockerel in the last 2-3 weeks, he will be 4 mos. old very soon. I have suspected he may have wry tail for quite sometime, really it's more like, I knew but was hoping that it wasn't, but it is.
In the last couple of weeks I have noticed what I thought was white coming in the hackles and tail fluff as well. I was able to catch him just a few minutes ago......check it out!

The degree in which he holds his tail to the left the majority of the time often varies from slightly to the left to alot to the left.

Only 3 ended up being cockerels from that purchase and all three are destined for the freezer. One is WAY overly red, one has squirrel tail and the other wry tail and white feathers.
