This bird is responsible for a couple number 8's and consistent 7's throughout her lay.

I never recommend breeding that will not produce something that is going forward to the SOP. I have sold about 300 like these for meat.

But are you going by the coloring alone? What about the other qualities that may outweigh something with a more "proper" color? Even with his darker coloring, I like the first roo better.

How many Marans chicks did you end up with?? Any pics, or did I miss the post somewhere??

geebs, I had some females laying 7-8 on the scale but when I really done my last culling few days ago found they had the soft brown feathers below the vent and sides. They are at an egg laying farm close to where I live enjoying the good egg laying life. I do not have any Brown soft feathers left in my Marans.

This is the main reason I said would like to see the posters females that were laying #8.

His feet were wrapped for bumblefoot and he had to hang on for balance... They all had a little wear on them... I was needing them for the hatching season..

To be fair she had plenty of mossy and was one DANG UGLY ROOSTER>.. This is my hennyroo... I would have culled her as a hen at 8 months and she laid a dang egg... NO LIE>...Glad I didn't cull... She laid me several 8's last year.. I posted them. They were HUGE also. Not a good shape but the shine was good.

Another responsible for number 8's regularly.. but I didn't get a lot of eggs from her... Just a few..2 or 3 a week at the peak of lay... BUT THEY WERE NICE... She is dead... Too bad... Accident injury.
